TG's philosophy of Playing is Learning for Life nurtures children to become well-rounded young citizens who form meaningful connections with their world through belonging, being and becoming.
TG's has been implementing indigenous programs as part of our Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) to boost our sustainability values and help children go even further in eco and social intelligence.
The children look at how they are able to make a difference in the environmental, social and economical aspects of their locations.
TG's Urangan has been incorporating Butchulla culture into our curriculum. This consists of fortnightly Beach and Bush Kindy Excursions where the children get to explore and listen to stories from the Butchulla culture on their walks. Butchulla's three lores also align beautifully with TG's sustainability values (social, economic and environmental).
TG´s children also take part in NAIDOC Week. This is when celebrations are held across Australia each July to celebrate and honour the culture, history and achievements of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. The children learn about how these people lived in the past, their art, culture and even food and music.
The children get really excited about fun activities such as nature weaving, bush tucker, aboriginal art, paintings and music. Through sensory experiences, the children explore and learn more about aboriginal culture through smell, touch, sight and sound. It makes the learning come alive for them.
Learning about indigenous culture is part of identity building for the children. They realise how they are all connected to their culture, their past, their community, and to their environment. When the children see how people took care of each other and their environment in the past, they naturally learn how to go forward to make a better future for their planet and their communities.
At TG’s, children learn to leave their own gentle footprints in the history of the planet. They act responsibly to improve its health, so generations on can have a better future.
TG´s is committed to reconciliation by building relationships, respect and opportunities throughout TG's and with our community.
