Commitment to Child Safety Statement

TG's Child Care is committed to Child Safety

TG’s Child Care is committed to Child Safety

At TG's Child Care, the safety and well-being of every child is our top priority. We are dedicated to maintaining a safe, supportive, and inclusive environment that exceeds the regulatory standards set by the Australian Children’s Education and Care Quality Authority (ACECQA) and the National Quality Framework (NQF). These standards guide us in delivering a child-safe culture that ensures transparency, accountability, and care at every level of our operations.

Our Commitment to Child Safety

TG's is not only committed to meeting the required safety standards but also ensuring that we continuously enhance our practices to maintain the highest level of child safety. This includes:

  • Strong Leadership and Governance: Child safety is embedded in the governance and culture of TG's Child Care. We ensure strong, transparent leadership that actively supports child safety practices and encourages compliance with child protection obligations.

  • Collaboration with Families and Communities: We work in close partnership with families, encouraging their involvement in decision-making processes regarding their child’s safety, well-being, and learning. Through open lines of communication, families are kept informed about our child safety practices and are encouraged to contribute their feedback.

  • Empowerment and Inclusion: We respect and involve children in decisions that affect them, ensuring they feel heard and valued. Educators empower children by encouraging participation, respecting their individual ideas, and fostering inclusive, play-based learning.

  • Equity and Cultural Safety: TG's Child Care ensures that all children, regardless of background or abilities, are treated with respect and have equal opportunities to thrive. We support the cultural safety of all children, including Aboriginal children, children from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, and children with disabilities.

Policies and Procedures Supporting Our Commitment

TG's Child Care operates with a robust set of policies that support our commitment to child safety and protection. These policies cover a wide range of areas, including:

  • Child Protection: Our Child Protection Policy guides how we identify and respond to concerns about abuse and neglect. We have a zero-tolerance approach to child abuse, and all concerns are taken seriously and acted upon swiftly.

  • Recruitment and Training: We conduct thorough pre-employment checks, including Working with Children Checks (WWCC) and reference checks, to ensure that all staff, educators, and volunteers are suitable to work with children. Continuous training ensures our team stays well-equipped to identify and address child protection risks.

  • Physical and Online Safety: We assess and manage risks in both physical and digital environments to prevent harm. This includes using technology responsibly, maintaining appropriate supervision, and ensuring our physical spaces are safe and supportive for children.

Key Safety Standards and Practices

Our policies are built around the NQF’s 10 standards, which encompass the following essential areas:

  • Child Safety in Leadership and Governance: Strong leadership that models accountability and ensures child safety is prioritised across the service.

  • Participation and Empowerment: Children are involved in decisions affecting their safety and learning, ensuring they feel respected and valued.

  • Family and Community Involvement: Families are informed and actively involved in shaping safety practices within the service.

  • Equity and Diversity: We uphold diversity and cater to the unique needs of all children, ensuring each child’s identity and well-being are supported.

  • Suitability and Support for Educators: We ensure all staff are well-trained, capable, and supported to provide a child-safe environment.

  • Responsive Complaints and Concerns Handling: We take all complaints and concerns seriously, responding in a child-focused and culturally sensitive manner.

  • Ongoing Education and Awareness: We promote continuous learning for all educators to enhance their child safety knowledge and skills.

  • Safe Physical and Online Environments: We mitigate risks in our physical and digital environments to ensure children's safety at all times.

  • Continuous Improvement: We regularly review our practices and policies to ensure they remain relevant and effective in safeguarding children.

  • Documenting Policies and Procedures: Our policies and procedures are clear and documented, ensuring everyone in the organisation understands their role in keeping children safe.

Additional Areas of Safety Focus

TG's Child Care also places a strong emphasis on the following areas:

  • Sleep and Rest Safety: We assess and manage risks associated with children's sleep and rest, ensuring that each child’s individual needs are met.

  • Sun Safety: Our children are educated about sun safety, and we encourage them to wear appropriate clothing, sunscreen, and hats while playing outdoors.

  • Mental Health and Wellbeing: We promote mindfulness, empathy, and gratitude ("MEG") as tools to help children develop emotional regulation skills and build resilience. Read Wellbeing for children with Healthy Harold at TG's Child Care

A Holistic Approach to Child Safety

At TG's, child safety goes beyond physical protection—it is about fostering a culture where children feel secure, valued, and empowered to express themselves. Our comprehensive approach ensures that safety, well-being, and emotional health are integrated into every aspect of the care we provide.

Through ongoing collaboration with families, regular staff training, and a commitment to continuous improvement, TG’s Child Care is a trusted environment where children can grow, learn, and thrive safely.
